Dream Theater's second production is the one that brought them into the Progressive Rock World Scene finally and well deserved. This is a very varied album because it mixes the best of the neo-classical style with the heaviest of rythms and sounds. A truly great production. *****
1) Pull Me Under:
The album's opening track is a great ice breaker because it's a truly great progressive work of art that is easy to listen to and easy to follow. Very nice song.
2) Another Day:
This follow up track is a very nice rock ballad that soothes the soul after and caresses the sense. lol. It's a very nice song with a very nice guitar solo and great use of saxophone.
3) Take the Time:
My personal favorite song of the whole album, it combines the best of off beat rythms with great melodic passages and heavy intro rythms. Very AWESOME song to rock out too and to practice on your guitar.
4) Sorrounded:
The album's fourth track is the only one I would consider a filler song (even thought it's kick ass anyways) on the album. It starts up slow and ends up sort of a little bit pumped up..
5) Metropolis PT. 1 "The Miracle and The Sleeper"
This by FAR the wildest song on the album. Starts up with sleigh bells and then goes into a whole other universe... I can't even begin to describe it...so...I'll leave it like this
6) Under a Glass Moon:
Another wild song with an AWESOME guitar solo. This song is probably the most "power metal-ish" of them all and contains some pretty awesome drum work by Mike Portnoy
7) Another Day:
Beautiful...Plain beautiful song. Kevin Moore shows us his piano mastery on this song and James vocals are very good.
8) Learning to Live:
The album's closing track, I see it as somewhat of an inspirational song because of it's uplifting rythms and guitar solo. It is a very beautiful work of art...truly on of Dream Theater's best songs
